Edens Zero Wiki

Rebecca Bluegarden (Future) (レベッカ・ブルーガーデン Rebekka Burūgāden?) is Rebecca Bluegarden's counterpart from the future after Shiki chooses to stop the antimatter bombs.[1]

The robots of Eden believed that she was dead, but in truth her consciousness was trapped within her own body and unable to interact with anyone. When the Edens Zero took off to travel to Universe 0, Rebecca awakened and transformed into an ethereal mass and clung onto the ship. She then became the Chronophage (時喰み Tokihami, lit. "Time Eater") and began eating the time from planets to regain her stolen time.[2]

Appearance[]

Rebecca is identical to her alternate counterpart, having not aged a day because of her death. Her body itself is completely nude save for the various wires attached to different parts of her and is kept in pristine condition.[3]

The Chronophage is a large black ethereal beast, seemingly without solid form. It is serpent-like in shape and is large enough to swallow a planet whole.[4]

Personality[]

Rebecca shares the same personality as her present counterpart, though showing a greater level of confidence in Shiki that prompted her to remain behind to help stop the antimatter bombs.[5]

Rebecca was abandoned at a very young age on Blue Garden, eventually she found a cat in an alley, who had no one else as well.[6] She befriended him and decided to give him the name Happy for making her happy to finally have a friend.[7] The two stayed together even after Happy was brought back with a mechanical body.[8] Eventually the two set out to Planet Granbell for a video, visiting the theme park and finding the sole human of the planet, Shiki.[9] After being saved from the robots, the three flee from Granbell together.[10] After getting Shiki to join the Shooting Starlight guild, Shiki gets an idea to find Mother. Together they go to Norma in order to to meet Professor Weisz, to get a bigger ship.[11] After an incident involving time displacement and escaping Norma, they gain two companions; Pino, a small anti-bot and the younger Weisz.[12] After getting captured by the space pirate Elsie Crimson, Shiki inherits his grandfather's ship, the Edens Zero, of which Rebecca becomes part of his crew.[13] They begin their quest to find the other Shining Stars in order to get past Dragonfall after Witch, an android built by Ziggy, awakens and Shiki inherits the title Demon King.[13]

On Nero 66 during the Aoi War, after Ziggy set the bombs to detonate in 20 minutes, Rebecca and the others are faced with the option to escape or try to stop the bombs. She sympathized with Shiki's worry over the people of the planet, but tries to persuade him to escape if they want to live. Shiki decided to stay and stop the bombs, which she stayed with him. However, due Shiki's gravity compressing the bombs resonated with her power to jump through time, a spacetime distortion was caused. In this distortion, the 20,000 antimatter bombs ignited in a extremely large burst of power. Because each bomb had enough energy to jump forward in time by 1 year, she and Shiki were thrown 20,000 years into the future,[5] of Universe 3173.[14]

Her dead body was found by two robots alongside Shiki,[15] who was still alive.[16] They were then transported to the planet Eden in the Sakura Cosmos.[17] When Shiki, now Ziggy, awakened and demanded to see her, they showed where they kept her body, which one robot noted that they repaired her exterior as she was in worse condition when they found her. Her body was hung within the room, with an assortment of wires connected to her body. Although she is dead, her body still emitted an unknown Ether signal. A few decades passed and her body had not changed, still hung in the room that Ziggy visited one day. The robot council had researched over the decades and discovered her power to travel through time. Because of this the council gave Ziggy a mission to use Rebecca's Ether to go to Universe 0, 20,000 years in the past to prevent the human race's extinction in a ship they will build, called the Edens Zero.[3] They extracted and amplified the Ether from her, and loaded it on the ship as Code 3173, Etherion.[18]

In truth, however, Rebecca's consciousness remained within and she was unable to move her body. When Ziggy left for the meeting with the robot council, she tried calling out to him that she is still there. She wanted him to help her and not leave. Just when the Edens Zero took off, Rebecca internally begged for him to not leave her, and finally opened her eyes. Her body transformed into a mass of ethereal tendrils, the Chronophage, and broke out of the lab where she was contained. The tendrils clung onto the spaceship, begging Shiki to come back and not leave her. Because of this, they were sent spiraling into Universe 1.[19][20] While the Edens Zero crash-landed on a planet that would later be named Granbell, the Chronophage arrived and wondered where she is. Soon she grew hungry and ate the nearest planet's time, where she believed that it would help her remember who she was. After eating the planet's time, she remembered that her time was stolen from her. She then wandered the vastness of space in order to get her time back.[21]

At some point, the Chronophage devoured Norma, eating 50 years of the planet's time. Weisz and many other Normans managed to escape the planet beforehand.[22]

Guilst arc[]

The Chronophage consumes countless planets, among the planet on its path is Guilst. Witch detects its ultra-high concentration of Ether which she warns Shiki's group.[4] When the Chronophage arrives, it consumes 1,200 years of the planet's time, erasing countless lives while also ironically turning the crime-filled world back into a natural paradise; the disaster would come to be known as "the day of Guilst's cleansing".[23] According to Creed, less than 10% of Guilst's population managed to escape before the Chronophage consumed the planet's 1,200 years of its time.[24]

Powers and Abilities[]

Cat Leaper (キャットリーパー Kyatto Rīpā): Rebecca's Ether Gear, which allows her to perform a "time leap", which rewinds time and allows her to change the outcome of past events.[25] Even after her death, her body continued to emit an Ether signal,[26] which is used by the Edens Zero to travel through time,[27] extracting and amplifying it in the process.[18]

Time Consumption: The Chronophage can consume a planet's time, causing the planet's history to be permanently rewound to an earlier state.[28] This effectively creates a new "reality" that turns the planet's past into its present, which also prevents any time paradoxes that may otherwise occur.[29]

  • Existence Erasure: By rewinding time, the Chronophage erases the existence of anyone who was not on the target planet in the past. Witch describes this process as being unavoidable.[30]

Spaceflight: The Chronophage is able to fly through space at high speed, allowing it to travel from world to world easily.[4]
